GUEST SPEAKER

Asif Mall

Human Rights Champion & Release National Partner

Asif works with a UK based Christian organization, Release international, which serves persecuted Christians around the world. His role involves oversight of work in a number of countries and also lobbying on behalf of these persecuted Christians in the EU, UN and with governments in the Global North. Asif has a particular focus on a number of countries in North Africa, South & SE Asia.

Asif was born to a Christian family in Pakistan and speaks Urdu, Hindi and English in addition to his mother tongue of Punjabi. Growing up in Pakistan, Asif took the opportunity to study Islam from an Islamic viewpoint as well as observing the suffering of religious minorities, especially Christians, at the hands of extremist Islam; he had first–hand experience of watching this escalate during the military dictatorship of General Zia–ul– Haq, whose legacy of Islamisation continues to this day.
