The main purpose of our missions is based on Hebrews 13:3.
“Remember the prisoners as if chained with them – those who are mistreated – since you yourselves are in the body also.”
Hebrews 13:3
We meet these purposes by:
Providing for the needs of the families and prisoners
Enabling them to survive persecution and its effects
Being the voice of the martyrs and the persecuted
Helping the persecuted Church to bring to Christ those who are opposed to the Gospel
Supplying Bibles and Christian literature to meet the need for growth and evangelism
Voice of the Martyrs was started by pastor Richard Wurmbrand (Tortured for Christ, 1967), who spent 14 years in a Romanian Communist prison, as a ministry to the worldwide persecuted church. VOM New Zealand (based in Christchurch) was one of the earliest of the international branches of the ministry, started in 1969.
There is now a close fellowship of 14 autonomous VOM offices around the world.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
There are plenty of ways to help and plenty of projects to support. From supporting people in Afghanistan to helping Pastors in Mindanao, your support goes a long way.
